Vienna - Austrian politicians yesterday called on Mr Karl Habsburg, grandson of the last Austro-Hungarian emperor, to resign from the European Parliament over charges he funnelled charitable donations into his election campaign. Mr Habsburg, who represents the conservative People's Party (OeVP) in Europe, denies any wrongdoing.
Chancellor Viktor Klima's Social Democrats, who govern Austria in coalition with the conservatives, said the 38-year-old parliamentarian should resign if it turned out that money from World Vision, a third world charity, had been used improperly by his Paneuropa movement.
