Gardaí revealed today they have recovered two handguns following the search of a car involved in a double murder in west Dublin this week.
The Audi A6 was used in the killings of two brothers on the Neilstown Road, Clondalkin, on Monday night. It was found burnt out on the Newlands Road in the Foxborough area of Lucan shortly after the incident.
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for anyone with information on the shootings, particularly anyone who was in the Newlands Road area between 8pm and 8.30pm on June 28th to contact Ronanstown Garda Station on 01-6667700 or the Garda confidential line 1800-666-111.
According to gardaí, the silver Audi A6 was stolen in Co Carlow on the night of the June 8th/9th. The correct registration number for the car is 02 D 2633, and gardaí note the vehicle may have been seen with either this number or a false number, 00 KE 13498, between June 8th/9th and June 28th.
The car had a taxi sign on the roof at the time of the murders.
Paul Corbally (35) and Kenneth Corbally (32) were shot dead, and a 14-year-old boy was wounded during the machine gun attack. Gardaí said they are satisfied that the boy was an innocent victim and not a target for the gunmen.
A High Court judge today warned of the need to protect the identity of the boy, who is under armed guard in hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds.
Garda patrols backed by the Emergency Response Unit are being stepped up in west Dublin amid fears the killings could lead to a protracted feud.
The Garda believe the Corballys were shot dead by a rival drug gang from the Ballyfermot area and are now concerned about revenge gun attacks.
