Gardaí investigating the murder of a suspected drug dealer in Cork earlier this year have hailed the discovery of a handgun which was used in the shooting as a significant development in the case.
Chief Supt Mick Finn of Cork City Division said that ballistics tests on a handgun found in a wood near Watergrasshill in north Cork earlier this month had confirmed that it was the weapon used to shoot Darren Falsey in Carrigaline.
Father of two Darren Falsey (36), a native of Waterfall on the outskirts of Cork city, was shot dead when he went to answer a call at his rented house at Ashbourne Court on Ferney Road in Carrigaline shortly after returning home at about 2pm on August 3rd.
Chief Supt Finn said the discovery of the murder weapon was a significant development in the investigation and would help gardaí in their efforts to track down and bring Mr Falsey’s killer to justice.
