A DUBLIN Green Part, councillor has called for all election candidates to be required to produce a tax clearance certificate before being allowed to stand.
Mr John Gormley also called for the full disclosure of all political donations and a cap of £12,000 on election spending in each constituency.
"The Electoral Bill is much more lax than this and yet it is being opposed by the PDs and Fianna Fail and some elements in Fine Gael," he said. "What have these parties got to hide? Why don't they voluntarily disclose the source of their corporate donations?" Mr Gormley asked.
