The grants announced yesterday for heritage properties include...

• €1.5 million for refurbishment of Fota House

• €200,000 for roof repairs and conservation work at Bantry House, Co Cork.

• €50,000 for repairs at Johnstown Castle, Co Wexford.

• €75,000 for refurbishment and repairs at Strokestown House, Co Roscommon.

• €100,000 for restoration at Headfort House, Kells, Co Meath.

In addition, heritage properties either in State ownership or managed by the State will benefit from additional works undertaken by the Office of Public Works.

These include:

• National Botanic Gardens: restoration of cactus/waterlily/ fern complex

• St Enda's Pearse Museum, Rathfarnham: structural refurbishment and renewal of exhibition area.

• Phoenix Park: Chesterfield Avenue renewal, phase two of refurbishment of four lodges.
