A Dublin GP has been found guilty of five allegations of poor professional performance after he over-prescribed benzodiazepines for patients with anxiety and insomnia.
Dr Mohammed Ahmed Khan, Wicklow Street, Dublin, prescribed benzodiazepines, such as valium, for four patients over extended periods and up to five times the recommended dose.
He also failed to comply with Department of Health guidelines on prescribing drugs. Dr Khan had admitted the allegations at a Medical Council fitness-to-practise inquiry held earlier this week.
