The Government today confirmed June 7th as the date for the
referendums on the death penalty, the International Criminal Court and the Nice Treaty - the same day as Britain’s general election.
The Minister for the Environment, Mr Dempsey, made the announcement this afternoon.
Since the Irish constitution was written in 1937, there have been 21 amendments and the latest votes will raise the total to 24.

A total of 2,867,960 electors will be entitled to vote in the June 7th referendums.
