The Government was today accused of assisting in "war crimes" in Iraq by allowing almost 50,000 US military personnel to use Shannon Airport during the war in Iraq.
The Irish Anti-War Movement (IAWM) also accused the Government of misleading the Daíl and the Irish people about the size and nature of US military activity at Shannon Airport.
The movement want an Oireachtas Foreign Affairs' Committee investigation established which will interview the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Brian Cowen.
The accusations came in a 12,000-word report on the Government's conduct during the war, launched today by the Irish Anti-War Movement.
The Irish media were also accused of "fairly patchy coverage" of the Government's conduct on Iraq compared with the "dogged pursuit" of the British government by the media there.
