A round-up of events countrywide this weekend
BARRY NORMAN
TV legend Barry Norman will show clips from and discuss his favourite films at An Grianán Theatre, in Letterkenny, Co Donegal tomorrow evening. The event starts at 8pm and tickets are available priced €18 and €15 concession. Further information at angrianan.com.
DUBLIN ZOO
This weekend the zoo will celebrate the first birthday of gorilla Kituba (with his mother Lena, above). There will be stilt walkers, jugglers, magic shows, music, face painters and other family activities from 11am. Tickets cost €15.50 for adults and €11 for children over three years of age, with concessions.
CONNEMARATHON
Over 3,500 runners will take part in tomorrow’s Connemara International Marathon. It starts with an ultra-marathon, of 39 miles, at 9am from Maam Cross, a full marathon from Lough Inagh at 10.30am and a half marathon starting at midday from Leenaun. Expect traffic disruption in the area.
MUNSTER v LEINSTER
All eyes will be on Thomond Park tonight for rugby fans when Munster look for revenge after their defeat by Leinster last November. There were a small number of tickets left for the Rabo Pro12 game last night, but organisers were expecting it to be sold out by kick-off at 7.30pm.
FEIS CEOIL CONCERT
The cream of Electric Ireland Feis Ceoil 2012 will perform at a gala concert in the National Concert Hall in Dublin beginning at 7.30pm tonight. Only a handful of tickets remains for the event, which features a selection of this year’s winners, including choirs, orchestras, ensembles and soloists.
WATERBOYS
More than 2,000 people are expected at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, formerly the Grand Canal theatre, in Dublin, for a performance by The Waterboys tomorrow night. Almost 30 years on the go, they are promoting their album, An Appointment with Mr Yeats. Some tickets are still available at €45.50.
