Give up smoking and gain jubilee indulgence

To gain a jubilee indulgence one must do the following:

Make a "pious pilgrimage" to the Basilica of St Peter's in Rome or to one of the other patriarchal basilicas in the Eternal City. (Alternatively, a pilgrimage can be made to the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem or the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, or, last but not least, to one's local cathedral.)

Visit the sick, elderly, imprisoned, disabled or those in some other way in need.

Abstain from smoking, drinking alcohol or eating.

Donate money to the poor or support works of a social nature (abandoned children etc).
