A 17-YEAR-old girl has told a court how she was forced to have sexual intercourse and perform oral sex on a 21-year-old man when she was just 13 after he forced his way into a toilet while she was visiting a flat with some friends.
The girl said she was using the toilet which had no lock when the man pushed his way in. She told him to get out but he began kissing her on the neck before pushing her back against the door and putting his arm across her mouth.
He pulled down her pants and proceeded to have sex with her. “I felt totally helpless,” she told the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork. She said he also stuck his penis into her mouth.
The girl said she was just 13 at the time and never had intercourse before and had no previous sexual experience.
“I said several times ‘What are you doing, what are you doing? stop it, stop it, you are hurting me’. I didn’t agree to anything,” she said, fighting back tears.
Somebody came to the door and tried to push it in so she managed to pull up her clothes and burst out into the living area. The girl said she was crying and wanted to leave straight away but she did not want her parents to see her so upset, so she spent the night at a friend’s house and went home the next day.
The defendant, now aged 24, denies the charges.
Cross-examined by Tom Creed SC, defending, the girl agreed she did not tell gardaí until February 2010 but that was because she was deeply traumatised by the incident, which haunted her to this day.
