Caithlín Glennon was asleep in the upstairs bedroom when a man went into the house in St John's Court in the nationalist Garvaghy Road area of Portadown about 3.30 a.m. yesterday.

It is understood he fired five shots into the ceiling from the ground floor. A police spokesman said the baby suffered wounds to her groin area.

She was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital where her condition is described as stable. Her pregnant mother is believed to be a patient in the same hospital. The girl's father, another man and two other children, who were in the house, escaped injury.
