Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after an alleged sexual assault in Waterford city overnight.
A 14-year-old girl called to a house after the alleged incident at around 12.45 am. Gardai were informed and the girl received medical treatment.
An area outside a local supermarket on the Tramore Road was sealed off for technical examination as part of the investigation today.
Officers today made house-to-house calls and took statements and have requested members of the public to come forward it they have any information.
They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who travelled on the late-night bus from Tramore to Waterford city.
The girl is understood to have been attacked in a lane that links John's River to the Cherrymount housing estate after getting off the bus.
The alleged assailant has been identified as a man but no further description has been released by gardaí.
