David Ginola has declined a move to West Brom after the English First Division promotion hopefuls had agreed loan terms with Everton.
The French winger is out of contract in the summer and resigned to leaving Goodison Park after being told he does not figure in new boss David Moyes's plans.
West Brom boss Gary Megson is desperate to bolster his squad in the final few weeks of the season, with the Baggies set for the end of season play-offs.
Baggies chief executive John Wile said: "We spoke to Everton about the possibility of taking David Ginola until the end of the season.
"Everton have had discussions with him and made it clear it is unlikely he will figure in their plans. But while Everton were quite happy with our proposal, the player didn't want to leave," he said.
