Gilligan: undergoing tests

Gilligan is understood to be under heavy guard in a secure room at the Midlands Regional Hospital where he is undergoing tests.
He was brought from Portlaoise Prison where he is serving 28 years for the importation of cannabis.
There are no further details of his condition but it is thought Gilligan may be returned to prison later today.
Gilligan, 50, who has homes in Dublin and County Kildare, was not thought to have suffered a heart attack and was expected to be returned to the jail later today.
Earlier this year, Gilligan was jailed for a further five years for threatening to kill two Portlaoise prison officers and their families.
