Berlin - The German Chancellor, Mr Gerhard Schr÷der, promised Pakistan over 100 million Deutschmarks in aid yesterday to deal with the country's growing refugee crisis, writes Derek Scally. He also said military strikes against Afghanistan should continue.
"Interrupting the military action would be wrong because it would only lead to a political solution becoming harder to attain," he said in Islamabad.
His comments came as the German government agreed a billion package of controversial new security measures that have been savagely criticised by civil liberties groups.
