A two-day strike by baggage handlers at London's Gatwick airport is affecting several dozen carriers with Ryanair requesting its passangers to carry hand luggage only. The carrier has warned it may have to operate flights with not check in facility for baggage.
Servisair GlobeGround, a private company providing baggage handlers at Gatwick, said on its website that its employee members of the Transport and General Workers Union were striking over an "ongoing dispute" with management.
The workers at Servisair, one of four baggage-handling companies at Gatwick, have already staged six strikes in recent weeks.
Ryanair said Servisair management teams have put their contingency plans into action, so that all Ryanair flights to and from London Gatwick Airport to Dublin can operate.
Passengers are advised to check details with their carrier before flying.
