A gas explosion caused a Co Down fishing boat to sink with the loss of three generations of the same family, it has been confirmed.

A report by the Marine Accident Investigation Board into the sinking of the Tullamurray Lassfrom Killkeel, found that the most likely source of the gas was a leak in the vessel's heating system.

An eight-year-old boy, his 32-year-old father and 54-year-old grandfather, all called Michael Greene, were lost when the fishing boat went down a few miles off shore in February 2002.

After weeks of searching by both British and Irish naval ships and police divers all three bodies were recovered from the sea.
