AS THE garden settles into its rust and brown autumnal state, buck it up with some cleverly planted window boxes and pots. Winter pansies, in the shops now, will flower for months. Feed them every four weeks or so and keep an eye out for green fly. Give pansy containers a more structured, pleasing appearance by bulking them out with evergreen ferns. Or for a sleeker, Stephen Woodhams look, pot up a window box with a row of box balls. Or just use one central ball, bordered with trailing ivies, hebes and heathers on either side.
