Gardaí investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl in her house near the village of Gowran, Co Kilkenny, say her mother is too ill be interviewed.
The woman is in St Luke's hospital, Kilkenny, since yesterday morning where her condition is said to be stable.
It is understood that the dead girl's father and brother had been away from the family home overnight on Saturday and returned to the house yesterday morning where she was found dead in bed and the mother in a "collapsed state".
A Garda spokeswoman told ireland.comthis morning that they wanted to speak to the woman and were maintaining contact with her medical team.
"Naturally we would like to speak to her at some stage," the spokeswoman said.
The house was sealed off pending the arrival of officers from the Garda Technical Bureau.
Supt Aiden Roche of Thomastown said the girl's name was not being released, at the family's request, until after the results of a postmortem.
The postmortem has been completed, but, gardaí are not releasing the details for operational reasons.
Early indications are that there were no signs of a break-in at the house.
The large house lies in its own grounds behind electronic gates on an unmarked narrow road in the townland of Killure, close to the N10 Kilkenny-to-Dublin road and the villages of Goresbridge, Gowran and Paulstown.
