GARDAI in Roscommon have recovered £100,000 worth of stolen cars and spare parts in a major investigation in the lands and west.
The recovery was made last week in a series of searches, following a six month Garda surveillance operation on the gang involved. Gardai believe they have cracked, the operation, which involving the dismantling of stolen cars for spare parts.
In some cases cars were stolen to order from Dublin, Galway and large towns in the midlands. In other instances the chassis of stolen cars were changed and the cars sold on to unsuspecting customers.
It is believed the operation has been going on for about two years and may involve upwards of £500,000 worth of stolen cars and parts.
