Gardai in Wicklow town seized cannabis resin with an estimated street value of £250,000 last night. Three men in their 30s were being questioned at Wicklow Garda Station and a follow up search was planned for this morning.
The find was made after what a local garda source described as a six month operation. Most of the blocks of cannabis were found in the coal bunker behind the rented seaside house. A smaller seizure was made at the same address last month, gardai said. They believe the cannabis was destined for the Dublin market and may have originated in France.
A Garda sniffer dog, called Major, was involved in last night's find and three more dogs from the Garda unit will be used in today's search of the beach area.
