GARDAI searching for a youth who is believed to have attacked three teenagers and a security guard with a knife during a concert at The Point in Dublin are appealing for witnesses.
Mr Wayne Donohoe (18), from Gallanstown Drive, Ballyfermot, was severely cut around the chin and neck with a Stanley knife at the Faithless concert on Friday night attended by 2,500 people.
Mr Donohoe, who has a seven week old baby, was released from the Mater Hospital at the weekend with stitches.
His mother, Teresa, said she was told her son was lucky to be alive as one cut was an inch away from an artery.
A security man received nine stitches in the neck after he was attacked from behind and stabbed while bending down to search another concert goer.
Two other teenagers from Finglas were also stabbed in the face with a knife.
Detectives at Store Street Garda station believe the same teenager was responsible for all the attacks which took place around 9.40 p.m.
Gardai said the assailant was aged between 17 and 19 and may have been wearing glasses. He was described by one witness as 5 ft 4 in, wearing a white T shirt, black tracksuit bottoms and white runners.
According to another witness, he was 5 ft 9in with black hair and wearing a black Adidas top.
"The investigation is ongoing and we're looking into all these descriptions," said Sgt Pat O'Sullivan from Store Street Garda station.
He said the assailant may have been with a group of people and called for anyone who witnessed the incidents to come forward.
Gardai seized six knives ranging in size from a pocket knife to a carving knife at the concert.
A 16 year old boy Dublin youth was arrested for possession of a Stanley knife and is likely to be cautioned by gardai under the juvenile liaison officer scheme. Gardai say his arrest was not connected to the stabbing incidents.
Security staff also confiscated a number of weapons, and five ecstasy tablets were seized. In an earlier incident, a concert goer was hit on the head with a bottle as he queued to enter the venue.
