Gardaí investigating the murder of Gerard Byrne at Dublin's IFSC last Wednesday have appealed for a group of people who were in the area to contact them.
Detectives are keen to speak to a group of English nationals who were near Mayor Street about six minutes before the shooting.
Byrne (25) was shot up to five times in the head just before 9pm outside the Mace supermarket on Lower Mayor Street in the IFSC. He was taken to the Mater hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He was originally from Ferryman's Crossing, not far from where he was shot, and was heavily involved in crime, according to Garda sources.
According to a Garda spokesman the group of English nationals passed by the Mace supermarket and headed toward the Harbour Master pub at approximately 8.44pm, where they sought food.
A staff member at the pub told them they had finished serving food and advised the group to return to Mayor Street where they could get refreshments.
Anyone with information should contact the incident room at Store Street Garda Station on 01-6668101.
