Gardaí have named the man (28) who died in a two-car crash outside Loughrea, Co Galway, yesterday afternoon.
Joseph Cahill, from An Laighdecan, Claregalway, Co Galway, was one of eight people killed on Ireland's roads yesterday.
The dead include a two-year-old boy who died when the car he was travelling in collided with a tractor at Lispopple near the Dublin-Meath border.
Six others died in crashes in Cork, Wexford, Sligo, Kerry and Antrim.

Fifty people have died on the State's roads since the start of the year, seven more than for the same period in 2005. Last year, 399 people died in road crashes in the Republic - the highest toll since 2001.
