Gardaí have named the young woman whose body was found in a derelict house in an upmarket Dublin suburb.
She was 17-year-old Niamh Murphy, from Salthill in Galway.
Her body was found in the boarded-up house on Pembroke Road in Ballsbridge, opposite the US Embassy, yesterday afternoon. Her throat had been cut, according to reports.
The discovery was made by the dead woman's boyfriend who immediately alerted a garda on duty at the US embassy. He was questioned and has now been released. There were no arrests made.
It is understood he and teh deceased had been living rough in the city centre and spent some time recently living in the house, was being used by a number of homeless people.
A murder inquiry has been launched, and is being coordinated from Donnybrook Garda Station.
A post mortem on the woman’s body was carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, this morning.
