Two men have been arrested in Limerick city as part of the investigation into a gangland murder.

It us understood they are members of one of the Limerick families involved in a bitter feud.

They were arrested in the Kileely area on the northside of the city last night and are being held at Henry Street and Roxboro Garda Stations under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

A total of 19 people have now been arrested as part of the massive Garda investigation into the murder of Kieran Keane, the Limerick crime boss who was shot dead January 29th. His nephew Owen Treacy survived a knife attack in the same incident.

A man and a woman were arrested in Thurles, Co Tipperary yesterday and Friday in connection with the same investigation, while three men and a woman were arrested in a swoop on a number of houses in the Thurles area on Thursday. Four houses were sealed off in Thurles and detailed forensic examinations were carried out by gardaí.

The four arrested on Thursday were brought to Limerick city for questioning and were held for two and a half days before they were released without charge.

Meanwhile, three men from Limerick are still in custody in Naas after they were arrested in Co Kildare on Friday evening.

They were stopped by gardaí in two separate cars on route from Dublin to Limerick. It is understood bomb parts were discovered.
