Gardaí in Limerick are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of a 92 year old man at his home in Ballymakery last Friday.

The body of James Mulqueen was discovered by Gardaí at approximately 11am on Friday. Neighbours raised the alarm after finding his body at his cottage in Ardagh near Newcastle West.

It was initially thought that he died of natural causes but, following the results of a post-mortem examination, gardaí are now treating his death as suspicious.

The scene was technically examined and the body removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where a Post Mortem examination was carried.
