Gardaí in Carlow town are investigating an overnight attack in which a man suffered a number of stab wounds.
The man in his 30s was assaulted on Dargan Lawns, Burrin Road, Carlow, shortly after 6am.
The victim was taken to St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, although his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
According to gardaí, the male attacker is believed to have fled the scene with his shirt badly torn.
