Gardai in Co Donegal say they have a "reasonably certain" line of inquiry in their investigations of an attack on a Traveller woman and her 12 children. A potentially lethal explosive device, which included several 4" bolts, was used in the attack in Ballyshannon on Friday, October 22nd.

The homemade device blew a hole in the side of the mobile home where the 33-year-old woman and her children, aged between three and 13 years, were living. A number of the children were injured by flying debris.

The attack happened in the Rock area of Ballyshannon, where there has been considerable tension over the number of Traveller families camped in the Market Yard area.
