Gardaí in Wexford are investigating three possible abduction attempts over the past two weeks

Gardaí in Wexford are investigating three possible abduction attempts over the past two weeks. Two of the incidents have involved children.

Sgt Brendan Kelly of New Ross Garda Station said although there are similarities in the description of a silver or grey car used in the incidents, no firm link has been made.

The first incident happened on March 3rd when a girl (8) and boy (6) were playing in the garden of their home at Haresmeade, Foulksmills. A car pulled up into the driveway and a male driver approached the girl while the boy hid.

The man tried to persuade the girl to get into the car and became annoyed when she refused. The girl then ran into her house.

Last Monday, a second incident took place on a rural road between Terrerath and Cassagh when a woman was accosted by a man at 9 a.m. after a car pulled up beside her. The man grabbed her and the woman fell but managed to get free. A second man remained in the car during the incident.

At about 12.40 p.m. yesterday a car pulled up beside a primary school at Ballycullane in south Wexford. A man approached two girls, aged 10 and 11, and asked them to get into the car.

The girls refused and the man left. He was described as wearing a green hat or cap and a long black coat and waistcoat.

Sgt Kelly said the Garda are appealing for information about the incidents. He asked the public to concentrate on the registration number of any car they see acting suspiciously.
