A man and a woman are still being questioned in connection with a Garda investigation into the murder of a woman whose body was found in the boot of her car in the city yesterday.
Gardaí had been seeking a man seen on Monday with the dead woman, Mrs Mary Walsh (54), from Lemybrien.
A man in his fifties - who is understood to be Scottish - was arrested in Wexford town at around 11.30 a.m. this morning. His 33-year-old wife, also said to be British, was arrested in Kilmacthomas at around 1.30 p.m. Both were arrested under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and are being held at Tramore Garda station, where they can be questioned for up to 12 hours.
A house close to Mrs Walsh's family home was sealed off for forensic examination after blood was reportedly discovered.
The mother-of-two had been missing since last Monday and was last seen alive driving to the village of Kilmacthomas, 20 miles from her home. She was found in the boot of her car in Waterford city yesterday afternoon. The car was taken to Tramore Garda Station for a forensic examination.
The results of the post mortem have not yet been released, but gardaí said they believe she died as a result of being beaten with a blunt object.
Mrs Walsh was due to deposit €10,000 at a bank in the as part of her duties as an insurance collection agent but failed to arrived.
