Gardai are treating as suspicious the death of a young man at a house in Tallaght. It is believed Mr Paul Rooney died as a result of a stabbing incident.
At Tallaght General Hospital yesterday, the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, carried out a post-mortem on the body of Mr Rooney (21), from Rossfield Avenue in Tallaght.
Gardai in Tallaght discovered the body of Mr Rooney at another house in Rossfield Avenue on Thursday. They went to the house after one of its occupants went to Tallaght garda station at 5 p.m. that day.
Supt Thomas Conway said that, as a result of what gardai found in the house, the scene was preserved and the State Pathologist contacted. The circumstances led gardai to believe the death was suspicious, Supt Conway said.
It is believed Mr Rooney went to the house the previous night and watched some television there. It is understood an argument broke out between Mr Rooney and a woman in the house and that a row ensued between the male occupant of the house and Mr Rooney which resulted in the young man's death.
Mr Rooney is understood to have had a number of injuries to the face and neck.
The occupants of the house have been interviewed by gardai. There have been no arrests connected to the incident.
