Gardaí confirmed today the death of a Limerick man who was found with severe head injuries on a roadside last week is not being treated as murder.

A Garda spokesman told ireland.comthey are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Noonan's death.

A post-mortem was carried out yesterday by the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, on the body of Mr Anthony Noonan (34) from Kilfinnane.

Mr Noonan was found badly injured on the side of a road near outside the village of Ardpatrick at around 3.00 a.m. last Friday. He was brought to hospital and placed on a life support machine but died on Tuesday.

He had last been seen travelling to a pub. The car in which he was travelling has been examined by forenic experts.
