Gardai arrest man over killing of Chinese student

The man, understood to be in his twenties, was arrested after returning to Ireland from a trip abroad.

A man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 21-year-old Chinese woman in Bray, Co Wicklow, last week.

The man, understood to be in his twenties, was arrested after returning to Ireland from a trip abroad.

The body of Ms Wang Xiang Yi (21) was found last week in open parkland at Woodbrook Glen in Bray early on the morning of Friday, July 4th. She had multiple stab wounds.

The man is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justica Act in Bray Garda Station.

Members of the Chinese community in Ireland as well as the woman's family and Bray residents attended a memorial service in the Holy Redeeemer Church in the town's Main Street on Saturday.

Her parents, as well as an uncle and aunt, travelled from China to Ireland last week, and she was cremated on Friday.

She had been studying English at a college in Dublin and living in the area for some time, not far from where her body was discovered.
