GARDAI investigating the murder of civil servant Ms Marilyn Rynn (41) three days before Christmas, are puzzled as to why she left a party in Raheny to go to Eddie Rockets diner in O'Connell Street, Dublin, when she could easily have got food locally or have gone home and eaten.
Detectives want to know why Ms Rynn, who lived in Blanchardstown, would take a taxi into the city centre and then get a late bus home. She could have gone to a local take away or taken a taxi home and eaten there. They are not ruling out the possibility that she may have arranged to meet someone in Eddie Rockets.
However, a garda said yesterday there were no developments in the case and their inquiries were continuing.
They believe the woman died following a violent struggle alter she was dragged from a path through Tolka Park from Blanchardstown village to her home in Brookhaven Drive.
The movements of several men with records of assault and sex offences in north west Dublin are being examined. There is no evidence to link any of the offenders with the murder. Gardai have made no links between the Rynn murder and the attack on a woman in the Phoenix Park on Wednesday by a man in a white Toyota van.
Despite appeals, there was no sign yesterday of the taxi driver who brought Ms Rynn from Raheny to Eddie Rockets diner. Gardai believe he may know if Ms Rynn met anyone there.
Seventy officers, led by Chief Supt Jim McHugh, are involved full time in the investigation. A mobile Garda station has been set up near the murder scene in Blanchardstown.
