Gardaí investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in Dublin are appealing for the public's assistance in identifying a possible witness.

Gardaí last night issued stills of the man, taken from CCTV footage recorded near the attack scene in Ranelagh in October of last year.

The man captured in the released CCTV images was seen walking in the area at about the time of the incident. Gardaí have been unable to identify him.

Supt Finbar O’Brien of Donnybrook Garda station said he believed anybody who knew the man should be able to identify him from the pictures. “We are very keen to speak with this man.”
