Gardai in Dundalk have seized three cars in the past three weeks belonging to people operating as taxi-drivers without the correct insurance, tax or licence. The gardai have warned the public to be on the look-out for such operators. Two accidents have occurred in which injured passengers or other motorists were unable to claim against the drivers.
Garda sources confirmed that a cab office opened five weeks ago. Gardai seized vehicles and closed it two weeks later, but it had reopened in recent days.
