Gardaí are mounting a high-profile national road safety campaign over the Easter holidays in an effort to cut down on fatalities and injuries.
"Operation Taisteal" will run from midnight tomorrow until midnight on Monday, April 21st. The campaign will particularly focus on speeding, drink driving non-wearing of seatbelts, and the driving behaviour of young men.
Gardaí say the campaign will see highly visible activities including checkpoints in each Garda division.
During the Easter period last year, five people were killed on the State's roads and more than 130 were injured.
