A Co Wicklow garda who was previously suspended because of allegations by convicted murderer Catherine Nevin has again been suspended from duty after a complaint by an Arklow publican.
Garda sources have confirmed that Garda Michael Murphy was suspended this week after complaints arising from an incident at the Beehive pub on November 26th last.
Garda Murphy has denied allegations he verbally threatened members of staff after an incident.
He was suspended from duty for two years in the early 1990s following a false allegation by Catherine Nevin that he had assaulted her and attempted to extort money from her. He spent a further six years confined to office duties. He was reinstated to full police work only last year.
After the Nevin conviction Garda Murphy was involved in the inquiry into Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla's decision to transfer the licence for Jack White's pub to Nevin in a private hearing at Arklow District Court.
Garda Murphy made an allegation that he had been unfairly treated by Judge O Buachalla but in October fully retracted the allegation.
The inquiry into the transfer of the licence by Mr Justice Frank Murphy found that Judge O Buachalla had carried out his duties without bias.
