Mr David Herbert (18) of Dunard in Cabra, died in the Mater Hospital on Sunday evening. He was admitted earlier in the day. Preliminary results of a post mortem found he died of head injuries.

An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station and gardai are working with colleagues in the Louth/Meath division as part of the inquiry relates to activities of a stolen car in Kells on the night of Saturday/Sunday last, a Garda spokesman told ireland.com.

The inquiry also relates to an incident at a Garda checkpoint in the Kells area, the spokesman said.
