A garda was injured when he tried to stop two men in a stolen car on the Loughlinstown dual carriageway near Dun Laoghaire yesterday. Garda Paul Duggan was knocked down when the men attempted to evade an improvised road block on the carriageway. He was taken to Loughlinstown hospital and later released.
Garda Duggan and another garda had followed the stolen car, a Rover 820, when it was stolen earlier in Killiney. When they set up the road block, the men drove on to the grass verge and knocked down the garda. Two men were later detained in Cabinteely garda station.
