Gardai investigating the murder of a man in Finglas last Friday night are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who has information, to contact them.

Mr Brian Fitzpatrick (43) was beaten and kicked to death as he returned home from a local public house. It is suspected he might have been followed by two men aged about 18 or 19.

He was found unconscious and with extensive head injuries early last Saturday morning, only six doors from his home at Clune Road in Finglas. He died from his injuries on Monday night. Mr Fitzpatrick was single and lived with his elderly mother.

Gardai said Mr Fitzpatrick left a pub on Ballygall Road West in Finglas at 11.55 p.m. on Friday with a male friend. Walking along Ballygall Avenue they met two youths and it is understood there was an exchange of words. They parted company at Finglas Park.
