Gardai searched yesterday for four men who ransacked the home of two men in Co Meath, leaving them "badly shaken" and in need of medical treatment. The attack happened on Thursday when the four forced open the rear door of a bungalow three miles south of Slane, just off the main Dublin-Derry road.
The victims, two brothers in their 70s and 80s, barricaded themselves into a bedroom, but the attackers forced their way in and demanded money. They then ransacked the men's home before getting away with a small amount of cash. A Garda spokesman said the victims heard the men, who had Northern accents, leave in a car in the direction of Dublin.
