A Parcel force driver was hijacked, tied up and his van taken outside Balbriggan, Co Dublin, last night.
The man, who is from Northern Ireland, was driving towards Dublin at about 9 p.m. when he was stopped by three or four men, believed to have been armed with a gun, at Balrothery. They tied up the driver and drove him around in the Parcel force van before transferring him to a second van, which had been stolen. The driver managed to free himself and contacted gardai at Balbriggan at about 1 a.m.
Gardai said last night they were unsure of the van's contents.
