The funeral has taken place in Newry, Co Down, of a GAA footballer who died last weekend. The body of Mr Ronan Conlon (24) was discovered in a field in the Mound Road area outside Warrenpoint on Monday, writes Suzanne Breen. He was reported missing by his family after failing to return home from a night out with friends on Saturday. A preliminary post-mortem revealed that he died from head injuries. It is believed that he may have been killed when a wall collapsed.

Mr Conlon, a computer programmer, played Gaelic football with Newry Shamrocks and soccer with Newry Bohemians. Hundreds of friends and team-mates attended his Requiem Mass at St Mary's Church in Chapel Street.
