Fulham's UEFA Cup dream continued today when they beat 10-man Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 in the second round first leg match in Zagreb.
The game was effectively settled in a four-minute spell in the first half.
Zagreb's Kristijan Polovanec was sent off in the 32nd minute after chopping down Fulham striker Luis Boa Morte on the halfway line as he threatened to break through.
Minutes later Boa Morte played a one-two on the edge of the area and rounded the Zagreb goalkeeper to score from a narrow angle.
Zagreb's Dimitru Mitu hit the bar from 20 metres in the dying seconds of the first half, but 15 minutes into the second period Steve Marlet cut through a static backline to slot home for Fulham, playing in the UEFA Cup for the first time.
Striker Barry Hayles scored the third with 13 minutes remaining. Mitu forced a fine save from Edwin van der Sar in the closing stages but the London side were rarely troubled after they took the lead. - Reuters
