Three students from Ashbourne Community School have won the 2000 Spin A Web schools Website competition. The winning entry by Owen Foley, Kevin Brew and Dermot Duffy, all sixth-year students at the school, is called Carbon is 4 Ever and leads visitors on a James Bond-style mission to learn about carbon and related chemistry principles through a series of interactive games.
Some 50 groups from schools throughout Ireland entered the competition, which is organised by Trinity College's computer science department and Eircom to encourage secondary-school students to create projects and publish them on the World Wide Web. The sites of the 10 finalists can be accessed at www.spinaweb.ie
