BEIJING - Chinese police are holding Mr Bao Tong, the only senior official jailed for the 1989 pro-democracy protests, under virtual house arrest until after the June 4th anniversary of the suppression of the movement, a family member said yesterday.
His daughter, Bao Jiaa, said her father, released from jail yesterday after serving a seven year jail term for "counter revolutionary incitement" and leaking state secrets, had been moved to a house in the Western Hills, a popular holiday area of hills and woods outside Beijing.
