A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a 48-year-old Lithuanian man in Dublin on Saturday.
A spokeswoman for the Mater hospital said the man was still in a critical condition this afternoon.
The man suffered serious head and neck injuries in the assault which happened as he walked along the Royal Canal in North Dublin.
Three men, all aged 18, were charged with assault causing harm at Dublin District Court on Monday.
Mr Kevin Dunne, Mr Michael Rea and Mr Leigh O'Connell were arrested by gardaí hours after the attack and the court was told they made no reply when arrested.
No addresses were given for the three 18-year-olds and an application for bail is to be heard at a later date. They are believed to be living in health board hostels.
